The Future of the Boston Media Panel Discussion

 

 

Howell Communications and Fisher College recently sponsored a panel discussion on the future of the Boston media. The panelists were Marty Baron, editor of The Boston Globe; Jim Braude, host of "Broadside: The News with Jim Braude" and WTKK-Radio's "Jim and Margery" show; Bob Buderi, founder, CEO and editor of Xconomy; Dayna Grayson, principal with Northbridge Venture Partners; and Emily Rooney, a veteran of network and local television news and host of WGBH-TV's "Beat the Press" and "Boston Common."

The discussion ranged from future viable business models to the role of media in society. The discussion took place before an audience of leaders from Boston's business, academic, non-profit and political communities, political communities. Lt. Gov. Tim Murray served as Master of Ceremonies.

In conjunction with the panel discussion, Howell Communications and Fisher College conducted a public opinion survey on issues related to the Boston media. A summary and analysis of the survey can be found here.
